The quick overview: I’ll come back with more detail soon……..

I’d describe my research interests and falling into two main clusters.

The first is about the governance of complex technological systems.  I have explained how I use the word governance in this site’s blog, but basically it is a way if reaching outside the idea of policy as the framework that makes technologies happen in the world. I’m interested in how civil society (including publics, NGOs, academia and many other forms), businesses and policy come together in a dynamic way to make technological transitions happen.

The second is in engineering education. Im interested in general questions of engineering capacity, diversity, interdisciplinary working and the role of engineers in solving complex problems. This is where my interest in teaching comes in, and I have a long term interest in innovative teaching strategies to stretch engineering education in ways that is enjoyable and rewarding for both students and educators.
